This is an allusion to Rene Magritte’s famous artwork ‘The Treachery of Images’. He says that the painting itself is not a pipe; it is merely an image of a pipe. Nowadays image became stronger and can create it’s own reality. And this ‘reality’, even it is incredible, is more powerful than our real world events.
